How-to: Edit your PDF documents with webPDF

PDF ISO 32000-2

With webPDF, you can convert more than 100 different formats. It also lets you archive business emails in a legally compliant way, make graphics and scanned or faxed documents editable, and apply signatures and timestamps to PDF files.

webPDF can create or validate documents in the PDF/A standard (ISO 19005) for long-term archiving. OCR can also be used to convert graphics, scans, and fax documents into searchable and editable PDFs. These versatile features are especially helpful in everyday PDF workflows.

Overview of important webPDF functions

  • Preview the result of your PDF edits
  • Use zoom to apply functions to individual pages or entire documents
  • Delete or extract specific pages and sections
  • Realign document parts using rotation
  • Split and merge document pages or complete PDFs
  • Insert watermarks (stamps) or digital signatures
  • Use optical character recognition (OCR) for graphics and scans to create searchable PDFs
  • Extract content and text from PDFs (for example as ASCII text, URL extraction of links, or via the Info function that creates an XML file with PDF metadata)

Edit PDF document metadata in the webPDF portal

Another useful editing feature in the webPDF portal is changing PDF document metadata.

With the Change description service, you can define or modify various metadata fields of a PDF document. This service is based on the Toolbox webservice and allows you to adjust document metadata as needed. In the dialog, you can set metadata such as title, author, or subject.

You can also access document metadata in Adobe Reader via File -> Properties.

In addition, webPDF offers the Graphic Export service, which is also based on the Toolbox webservice. Using the Export as graphic dialog, you can convert individual pages or an entire PDF into different image formats.

By the way: if you export more than one page, the webPDF portal creates a ZIP file containing the exported pages.
