Part 3 of the webPDF 8 series focuses on webservice innovations, especially in the Toolbox and Converter.

With webPDF 8, new operations were added and existing ones were extended.

New operations

  1. Move: move pages within a document
  2. Outline: create, update, and edit outlines
  3. Redact: clean content and metadata
  4. Portfolio: combine documents into portfolios

Extended Options operation

  • set page boxes (for example MediaBox, CropBox) precisely
  • add or change background
  • edit headers and footers
  • Bates numbering for page numbering
  • add/remove page transitions

Additional extensions

  • Extraction: export images from PDFs
  • Attachment: page attachments also without icon
  • Info: output additional metadata, for example annotations, forms, and attachments

  • improved automatic alignment of rotated pages

Converter

  • new Chromium-based HTML engine
  • improved conversion of HTML-based formats (EML, MSG)
  • template engine based on HTML, macros, and variables

Flexible templating with HTML/CSS

Using Converter, you can:

  • create new PDFs from templates
  • control content dynamically with variables
  • control visual output via HTML/CSS (including page breaks)
