WebP/JPG image comparison

WebP is an image format developed by Google based on the VP8 video codec. It supports lossy and lossless compression for static and animated images.

The goal of WebP is a smaller file size with comparable image quality. Compared to classic formats such as JPG or PNG, WebP files can be significantly smaller.

Benefits of WebP:

  • lossy and lossless compression
  • transparency via 8-bit alpha channel
  • metadata support (EXIF, XMP)
  • embedding of color profiles
  • animations

Since version 8.0.0.2159, webPDF supports this format both server-side via the "Converter" webservice and in the portal.

You can upload WebP images in the portal, preview them, and convert them to PDF in the usual quality.
