Add comments to your PDF document

Insert comments, annotations, and notes into a PDF document
With the webPDF portal, you can customize and edit PDF documents according to your needs. In addition to watermarks and barcodes, you can also add comments and notes.
This function allows you to comment on content and emphasize important text passages.
In the menu, choose between Sticky note, Highlight, Underline, and Strikethrough.
Edit and redact text
You have several options for marking text and organizing your work in a PDF:
- Add annotations (comments and notes) directly in the portal.
- Highlight text passages, underline text, or strike through text.
- In the Attachments tab, place a comment with an attachment at specific text areas in the PDF.
How to add annotations or comments in a PDF
In the webPDF portal, select the Comment tab and open the Sticky note dialog. You can choose a color and add pop-up text that appears when hovering over the comment.
You can also provide details such as author, subject, or reason (intent) and define which icon should be displayed. Available icons include Comment, Help, Insert text, Key, New paragraph, Note, and Paragraph.
To place annotations, click the relevant position in the text. For underline, highlight, and strikethrough, mark the target text and choose the desired color.
Keep an overview at all times
In the comment list in the info area, you can review all editing steps and comments in the PDF. Click an entry to jump directly to the page containing that comment. You can also expand/collapse, search, sort, and filter comments.
Additional note
You can also place attachments in a specific page area and combine them with a note or comment.
For this, select the Attachment tab, choose a page area, and click the corresponding text area where the attachment or comment should be inserted.
Besides comment text, you can choose different icons that appear at that position. On the left side, you will find an overview of all attached files.
