Sneak Preview: The Brand-New webPDF Portal

With the new webPDF Version 8, the portal also gets a fresh new look and many new functions. In the following, we would like to give you an overview of the innovations and a sneak peek at the new features.

First Change Immediately After Opening​

The portal's new modern design stands out at first glance. Unlike the old portal, the editing functions are now visible immediately after opening it, even before a document has been uploaded. When opening the portal, users are greeted by a start page together with the new document manager. The new document manager offers a simple and fast way to open and manage multiple documents at the same time. Depending on your preference, uploaded documents can also be displayed as a list or with a preview.

Focus on Usability and Efficient Workflows​

The new webPDF Portal 8 also provides much better clarity through the tabs File, Edit, Add, Convert, Export, and Comment. In addition, with a single click when opening documents, you can choose whether a document should immediately be converted to PDF or PDF/A or whether text recognition should be applied directly on opening. This allows several work steps to be bundled together.

More Overview and Faster Changes with the Document Manager​

With the document manager, you can now:

  • Upload multiple files and convert them directly to PDF in one step
  • Switch between multiple open documents using tabs
  • Automatically perform text recognition and/or create PDF/A during document conversion
  • Perform operations on several documents at the same time

The New Document Preview​

In the detailed view of individual PDF documents, there is now a comment list that provides an overview of all comments contained in the document. With one click, you can jump directly to the respective comment in the document.

Handling of embedded content has also been expanded. There is now a special preview function for both document attachments and PDF portfolios, making them easier to access and visualize.

Additional Important New Functions and Dialogs​

  • The new history stores all operations performed on a document and allows them to be reversed quickly and easily or reset to a specific processing state.
  • The page box dialog makes it possible to customize the different page boxes of a PDF that are required for professional printing.
  • Headers and footers can now also be created and customized. This can be used to insert page numbers or data on each page.
  • Page transitions such as fade, insert, or turn can now also be configured.
  • Both text and color backgrounds can be stored for PDFs, and bookmarks can also be created and deleted.
  • The administration area now offers a better overview. At a glance, you can see the status of the webservices and all important system information.
  • In addition, it is now possible to redact parts of a document with the Sanitize operation. This makes it possible to selectively remove unnecessary or private information such as metadata, hidden layers, form data, comments, or scripts.
