Security and feature update for webPDF 8

Security update

A new update for webPDF 8 is available with revision number 2255. This security and feature update includes important upgrades to core components such as OpenJDK (11.0.11+9) and Tomcat (9.0.46). It also updates used libraries and dependencies to current versions.

We strongly recommend applying security updates for all customers, as they are essential for secure and reliable webPDF operation. As usual, this update also includes additional features.

In addition, issues in webPDF web services that occurred since the webPDF 8 release have been fixed.

The most important fixes and new features of revision 2255

Server:

  • Security: Update OpenJDK to 11.0.11+9
  • Security: Update Tomcat to 9.0.46
  • Security: Update all libraries
  • Security/Feature: Update PDF/A converter
  • Security/Feature: Suppress Tomcat version display on error pages
  • Security: Log4j configuration is not closed, causing changes to be lost
  • Security: CORS filter adjustments

  • Fix: Password changes made in the portal are not activated immediately
  • Fix: Character set detection for text preview is incorrect
  • Fix: TextViewer is not loaded
  • Feature: Use custom fields in PDF description
  • Feature: Respect PageLayout setting in display

Web services:

  • Fix: Corrections and additions in the documentation
  • Fix: Asynchronous termination of threads stuck in endless loops
  • Fix: Orphaned OfficeBridge instances when timeout is reached
  • Fix: Date in the English email template is displayed with German names
  • Feature: Barcode graphics with DPI, millimeter sizing, and TIFF export format
  • Feature: Manual option to disable OfficeBridge tests
  • Feature: Use custom fields in PDF description
  • Feature: Update XSL transformation for XInvoice
