Text recognition

With update revision 2159, OCR text recognition in webPDF was improved. Documents can now be optimized before recognition to increase result quality.

Targeted image operations on the source document (image or PDF) create an improved base document for the actual recognition process.

New options include, among others:

  • brightening
  • sharpening
  • removing disturbing image elements

These optimizations are applied only temporarily during OCR. The source document remains unchanged.

Especially for blurry or noisy source material, this can significantly improve recognition results.

The options are available via the OCR webservice and in the portal via the "Recognize text" dialog under the "Optimization" tab.
